Clothes on the left, liquor store on the right. Ah, the good life! |
We didn't know it when we booked, but our room had a great view of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, about a block away.
Considerably better than our view in NYC. |
The Basilica is one of the oldest in Florence (consecrated in 393, yes three-nine-three), and burial home of Florence's ever famous and everywhere Medici family. Despite being wrecked after almost 12 hours of travel, we went outside to explore and have some gelatto.
1600 years old, burial of patriarchs of Florence, and GREAT place to eat gelatto. |
Not sure how this guy messed up our shot. |
And then we headed back through the ridiculously photogenic streets of Florence to get some sleep.
These streets were made for mosey-ing. |
Tomorrow, we start with the Duomo!
